Quilted bigleaf maple (Acer macrophyllum)

This wood has a figure pattern that is exceptionally beautiful. It shows a three dimensional quality when finished. It is most often used in the making of the highest quality musical instruments. This quilted pattern is only found in western bigleaf maple.
